Welcome to Kahal America!
May 19th, 2008KAHAL America, now known as The Jewish Alliance for Change, is an exciting new Jewish nonprofit 501(c)4 established in May 2008. We are a group of Americans engaged deeply in bringing Jewish ethics, reason and dialogue to the issues of the day. Please visit our new website at www.Jews4Change.com
KAHAL, which means to come together in community, was founded to promote American Jewish engagement in the political process in pursuit of the common good. We work to foster the American Jewish contribution to a flourishing global Jewish community, and an American society and economy which serves all citizens, respecting the dignity of every individual.
By focusing on shared values and concerns, KAHAL America seeks to expand the common ground between American Jews: Liberal and Orthodox, traditional and secular, affiliated and alienated, Republican and Democrat, young and old.
KAHAL America informs, mobilizes and furthers dialogue between American Jews, catalyzing greater interaction and political participation through new online and public forums.
KAHAL America will advocate for a wide range of goals including:
- Universal access to healthcare, quality education and food security;
- Equitable tax, jobs & economic policies;
- Protecting civil rights and freedoms, while pursuing a rational and constitutional approach to U.S. national security;
- Sustainable energy and responsibility towards our environment;
- Scientific inquiry free from political interference;
- A safe US withdrawal from Iraq, coupled with new diplomatic initiatives to reconcile Sunni and Shia Iraqi factions, and to resolve US and Israeli conflicts with Iran, Syria and the Palestinians, leading to a more stable, secure and peaceful Israel and Middle East.
Kahal America will mount a professionally staffed innovative multimedia outreach initiative: to educate the Jewish community about the issues at stake in the presidential campaign and how they connect with authentic Jewish values and interests; to promote better understanding of the policies advocated by Senator Obama, and to defend against smears on Senator Obama in the American Jewish community.
